falls, streams and etc. The hydrosphere covers about 70% of the surface of the Earth and is the home for many plants and animals.
Here are some of the importance of WATER:
* the agent of all living things to survive
* source of energy example: Maria Christina Falls
* habitat of all underwater creation example: fishes and coral reefs
Hydrosphere is composed of different bodies of water, such as OCEANS, LAKES, RIVERS, SEAS, STREAMS, PONDS, and FALLS.
OCEAN
The Earth's oceans are all connected to one another. Until the year 2000, there were four recognized oceans: the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Arctic. Of all the bodies of water, Ocean is the biggest.
LAKE
It is a body of relatively still fresh or salt water of considerable size, localized in a basin, not to be confused with a lagoon, that is surrounded by land.
Types of lakes:
Periglacial lake
Subglacial lake
Glacial lake
Artificial lake
Endorheic lake
Meromictic lake
Fjord lake
Oxbow lake
Rift lake
Crater lake
Lava lake
RIVERS
River is a flowing body of water. Rivers are an important part of the Earth's water cycle and the sculpting of the Earth's topography as they carry huge quantities of water from the land to the sea.
Example: Nile River, Yangtze River and Volga River
SEAS
Generally refers to a large body of salt water, but the term is used in other contexts as well.
STREAMS
Is a body of water with a current, confined within a bed and stream banks.
Water is very important to all living or non-living things. It gives life to any creation and it can help to survive. Without water, no one can live on this earth. So, everyone is responsible of taking good care of our precious water, because it has a significant role in our lives and environment.
